PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing cis-2,3-disubstituted cyclopentanone. SOLUTION: The method for producing cis-2,3-disubstituted cyclopentanone includes the following nine processes: the first process for etherifying 3-cyclopentanedione; the second process for transferring the compound; the third process for etherifying the compound; the fourth process for adding a malonic ester to the compound and simultaneously subjecting the compound to decarboxylation to produce a substituted cyclopentenone; the fifth process for selectively oxidizing a double bond of a side chain of the substituted cyclopentenone; the sixth process for hydrolyzing an oxirane ring of the compound to produce a diol; the seventh process for hydrogenating the double bond in a five-membered ring of the compound; the eighth process for changing the diol of the compound into dioxolane; and the ninth process for decomposing the compound in the presence of a carboxylic anhydride to produce a substituted cyclopentanone represented by formula (29). In formula (29), R<SP>46</SP>is hydrogen or a 1C-8C substituted group and may be the same as R<SP>44</SP>; R<SP>47</SP>is hydrogen or a 1C-8C substituted group and may be the same as R<SP>45</SP>; and R<SP>46</SP>may be the same as R<SP>47</SP>.
