PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder for an electrode capable of suppressing deterioration of the electrode after repetition of charging and discharging.

SOLUTION: The binder for an electrode contains a copolymer containing a structural unit originating fromα-olefin of a carbon number 2-4 and a structural unit originating from polyvinyl chloride and/or a structural unit originating from fatty acid vinyl. The electrode contains the binder for an electrode, and the lithium ion secondary battery includes the electrode.
