PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument and a method for measuring the soot concentration in gas and a gaseous composition, capable of measuring the concentration of soot in gas to be measured and the gaseous composition, in one sitting in laser measurement. SOLUTION: The instrument for measuring soot concentration in a gasified gas and the gaseous composition is equipped with a soot densitometer 13 for measuring the concentration of the soot in the gas 12 to be measured; a gas composition measuring meter 14 for measuring the gaseous composition in the gas 12, when the measuring result of the concentration of soot is below a predetermined threshold; and a filter 18 (18a, 18b and 18c) for removing the soot in the gas 12, when the result of the concentration of soot is the predetermined threshold or above and a control device 17 for determining whether the gas to be measured has passed through the filter 18, on the basis of the result of the threshold of the concentration of soot.
