<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control system that sufficiently exhibits original performance of a vehicle behavior control device even when an arousal level of a driver is low. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle control system S with a vehicle behavior control device which controls vehicle behavior includes: an obstacle avoidance control means for, when an obstacle approaches the vehicle, controlling the vehicle behavior control device to avoid a collision between the vehicle and the obstacle; a vehicle stabilization control means for controlling the vehicle behavior control device for stabilizing the behavior of the vehicle after the vehicle avoids a collision with the obstacle; and an arousal level determination part 32 for determining an arousal level of a driver. As the arousal level determined by the arousal level determination part 32 is low, the obstacle avoidance control means increases the controlled variables of the vehicle behavior control device.
