<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition containing an intermediate for a water-soluble monomer, having a polymerizable terminal double bond, used favorably for manufacturing the water-soluble polymer, and usable favorably for manufacturing a water-soluble polyalkylene glycol monomer capable of manufacturing the water-soluble polymer at a high yield, a manufacturing method therefor, a composition containing the water-soluble monomer obtained thereby, and a cationic group-containing monomer usable for manufacturing a polymer exhibiting high dyestuff migration preventive ability when used as detergent additive and a manufacturing method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: This composition containing the intermediate for the water-soluble monomer contains a compound (A) having specified structure, and the composition contains a specified amount of compound (B) having specified structure.
