PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more surely discriminate a face within a focusing range in the case where a plurality of faces exist within a picture, and to notify a user about that. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a digital camera which includes: an imaging device (3) for converting an object optical image into an electrical image signal and outputting it; a face detection circuit (15) for detecting an area of the face based on the image signal output from the imaging device; focusing means (16, 17) for performing focusing control on any one of the detected face areas; a focusing position determination section (18) for determining whether the other face areas are within the focusing range, respectively based on a size of the focused face area and sizes of the other face areas detected by the face detection circuit; and display means (10, 19) for displaying a frame indicating the other face areas judged as being within the focusing range and a frame indicating the face area focused by the focusing means while superimposing the frames on an image of the image signal.
