The present invention relates to a composition for removing deposits restricting cleaning, treatment, transportation and distribution of coke oven gas wherein the composition comprises a mixture of hydrocarbons and/or a mixture of hydrocarbons with organic oxygenic, sulfuric and nitrogenous substances, wherein the content of hydrocarbons with boiling point in the range of 70 up to 230 degC at a pressure of 101.325 kPa amounts in the mixture to at least 75 percent by weight. The mixture further contains 1.10e-3 up to 10 percent by weight of at least one surface-active substance based on reaction products of fatty acids and amine organic compounds, which surface-active substance also contains in addition to said reaction products both free starting amines and fatty acids. It can also contain 0.003 up to 5 percent by weight of a defoaming agent being selected from the group containing alcohols containing 3 up to 10 carbon atoms in a molecule and/or silicon oils or 0.0002 up to 5 percent by weight of a corrosion inhibitor being selected from the group consisting of propargyl alcohol and/or propargyl alcohol dissolved in at least one alcohol having 3 up to 10 carbon atoms in a molecule and/or dibenzosulfoxide dissolved in at least one alcohol containing 3 up to 10 carbon atoms in a molecule.
