<p>PURPOSE: A polarizing film is provided to ensure high dichroism in a short wavelength region of visible lights through an azo compound having a benzene ring and two naphthalene rings within molecule. CONSTITUTION: A polarizing film comprises an azo compound represented by chemical formula (1), wherein X is hydrogen atom, halogen atom, nitro group, cyano group, alkyl group having 1-3 carbon atoms, or alkoxy group having 1-4 carbon atoms; and M is counter ions. The azo compound is included in the polarizing film in the amount of 30-100 weight% based on the total weight of the polarizing film. The thickness of the polarizing film is 0.1-40 micron.</p> |
