893,359. Making drawer-and-shell boxes. INLAND N.V. June 30, 1959 [July 4, 1958], No. 22448/59. Class 18. A drawer, Fig. 1, of a match box is formed from a base 2 having four sides folded up therefrom and a flexible ring 1 that surrounds the sides and keeps them erect. The shell, Fig. 2, comprises a member 5 of synthetic material and an insert 6 of strong paper or cardboard. The ring 1 or member 5 may be of a thermoplastic or thermo-setting material, may be coloured and/or have an imprint thereon. Alternatively, the base part 2 may be coated with a thermo-plastic material. The ring 1 may be of polyvinyl chloride or polyethene and may have apertures therein. The drawer is assembled, as shown in Fig. 5, by pressing the base part 2 through an apertured plate 7 by a member 12 so that it engages and spreads fingers 13 which then engage and hold open the ring 1 which is moving upwards on a plate 14. The part 2 is then inserted in the part 1 and may or may not be secured thereto by glue or by heating the parts. To enable the member 5 to be engaged by and moved down with the member 12 during assembly of the shell, the member 12 has an abutment engaged by the upper edge of the member 5. |
