FIELD: metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: procedure for production of multi-layer coating for cutting tool consists in vacuum-plasma application of three-layer coating. Carbonitride of titanium and chromium is applied as a lower layer at pressure of acetylene of 7.510-4 Pa and temperature 600C in a chamber of installation. Same carbonitride alloyed with silicon is applied as an intermediate layer at pressure of acetylene of 7.510-4 Pa and temperature 550C in the chamber of the installation.
