摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of mass-producing a quality carbon nanotube with little bending by using a substrate comprising cheaper materials such as aluminum, and magnesium. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a carbon nanotube including: a process which covers a coating film 12 comprising a metal or a metal compound on the surface of a substrate 11 including aluminum, magnesium, or zinc; a process which arranges a metal catalyst 15 on the surface of the coating film 12; and a process in which a carbon containing gas is supplied to the substrate 11 in which the metal catalyst 15 has been arranged, and which makes the metal catalyst 15 grow up a carbon nanotube 18, wherein the metal or metal compound has a melting point higher than that of the material composing the substrate 11, and consists of a material which is not alloyed with the metal catalyst 15 in the growth process of the carbon nanotube 18. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p>
