IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct magnification adjustment in the sub-scanning direction of image data and prevent degradation in image quality due to the magnification adjustment while improving productivity without alteration in rotational speed of the polygon mirror.

SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes a magnification varying means for varying a magnifying factor through insertion and reduction of pixels to and from a string of pixels in the sub-scanning direction on the basis of the preset magnifying factor for the image data formatted by arranging a plurality of lines in the sub-scanning direction perpendicular to the main-scanning direction with a line of the string of pixels formed by arrangement thereof in the main-scanning direction. The magnification varying means executes insertion or reduction of pixels at the location where the pixel inserting or reducing locations in the string of pixels in the adjacent sub-scanning direction become non-continuous in the main-scanning direction.
