PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intercom system that enables a resident to confirm an image of a visitor before performing speech communication operation and to know who the visitor is, and makes the resident select the necessity or non-necessity to make a response. SOLUTION: The intercom system comprises a door-phone slave unit 2 with a camera 25, an intercom master unit 1 configured for speech communication with the door phone slave unit 2, and a transfer device 3 connected to the intercom master unit 1 through a communication line to send and receive audio signals and video signals to and from a mobile speech communication terminal 6 through a wide-area communication network WAN. The transfer device 3 transmits a call notification message including an image picked up by the camera 25 in response to a call from the door phone slave unit 2. The mobile speech communication terminal 6 displays the image picked up by the camera 25 in response to the call notification message, and displays a speech communication button to be pressed to start intercom speech communication with the door phone slave unit 2.
