PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device of an area control system, capable of eliminating unevenness when viewed obliquely, and reducing high power consumption. SOLUTION: A flatness degree indicating flatness of an image is calculated for each area of an image. In a flat area, a light source luminance is set high for alleviating the unevenness when viewed obliquely. In a non-flat area, since unevenness when viewed obliquely is hardly perceived, correction of the light source luminance is not performed, and power consumption reduction effect is maintained.
