PURPOSE: A device and method for driving a liquid crystal display device are provided to prevent motion blurs which occur on a liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION: A timing controller(110) arranges inputted image signals as image data of one frame unit. A data analyzing unit analyzes image data of one frame. The data analyzing unit sets an LED block to drive a fixed number of LEDs based on the analyzed result. A dimming value calculating unit calculates a dimming value of an LED block corresponding to the one frame image data based on the analyzed result and LED block setup. An LED driving unit drives an LED block using a dimming value of an LED block corresponding to two frames.
