<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode active material by which a high capacity sodium secondary battery is produced. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode active material contains powder (A) and powder (B). (A) is a transition metal sodium phosphate powder having a BET specific surface area of 1 m<SP>2</SP>/g or more and 100 m<SP>2</SP>/g or less and (B) is a composite metal oxide powder and/or a transition metal lithium phosphate powder. Transition metal sodium phosphate in the powder (A) is the electrode active material represented by formula (1): Na<SB>x1</SB>M<SP>1</SP><SB>y1</SB>(PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>z1</SB>(wherein M<SP>1</SP>represents at least one element selected form the group consisting of a transition metal element, and 0<x<SB>1</SB>≤1.5, 0<y<SB>1</SB>≤3, and 0<z<SB>1</SB>≤3 are satisfied).
