PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device wherein a driving device 35 having a main sheave 12 is arranged on a counter weight 30, for allowing easy maintenance of the driving device 35. SOLUTION: The driving device 35 is arranged on the lower side of the counter weight 30, and a unit weight 37 having a cutout 38 for a main rope 4 to pass therethrough is arranged on the upper side thereof. Since the contact of the main rope 4 wound on the main sheave 12 with the unit weight 37 is thus prevented, the main sheave 12 can be installed on the lower side of the counter weight 30. As a result, when the counter weight 30 is moved down to the bottom of a shaft, the driving device 35 is located lower. Easy maintenance of the driving device is therefore allowed.
