PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing member capable of controlling a buckling direction and providing stable shock absorbing performance. SOLUTION: A reinforcing part 1 and a non-reinforcing part 2 are arranged side by side in a plate thickness direction t of the shock absorbing member in a cylindrical shape and the reinforcing part 1 is positioned along a shaft direction, alternately inside and outside in the plate thickness direction. Thus, if an axial compressive load is applied, the reinforcing part 1 is brought to be in a tensile side and the non-reinforcing part 2 is brought to be in a compression side by strength difference in the plate thickness direction t and the reinforcing part 1 is buckled to project to the side at which the reinforcing part 1 is arranged and the shock absorbing member as a whole is buckled and deformed in a wavy manner along the shaft direction. As the reinforcing part 1 is buckled to project to the side at which the reinforcing part 1 is arranged, the buckling direction is controlled and stable shock absorbing performance is provided.
