PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy method for producing an olefin compound comprising a silanol group at a high yield. SOLUTION: The method for producing an olefin compound comprising a silanol group represented by formula (1), includes allowing an olefin compound represented by formula (i) to react with a halogen-containing compound represented by formula (ii) or allowing a compound represented by formula (iii) to react with a compound represented by formula (iv), in the presence of a transition metal catalyst (in the formulae, X represents a substituted or unsubstituted 1C-60C monovalent hydrocarbon group, provided that some of carbon atoms may be substituted with a hetero atom; Hal represents a halogen atom or a triflate group; n represents an integer of 1 to 10; Y represents a substituted or unsubstituted divalent conjugated substituent; and R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>each independently represents a 1C-10C substituted or unsubstituted monovalent hydrocarbon group).
