The invention relates to an adapter for fixing solar modules (100) comprising retaining profiles (30) that are fixed to their rear face, to an assembly of solar modules (100) that is fixed using corresponding adapters and to a method for fixing solar modules (100) to a base frame. The aim of the invention is to provide means that permit the wider use of one type of solar modules with different types of supporting units or frames. To achieve this, the adapter is a profile element (10, 10'), the internal cross-section of which corresponds at least partially to the outer cross-section, or the outer cross-section of which corresponds at least partially to the internal cross-section of the retaining profile (30). The profile element (10, 10') can be brought into overlapping contact with the retaining profile (30) and can be fixed to the latter.
