<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently and easily producing a high-molecular weight polyarylene sulfide with little amount of volatile component. <P>SOLUTION: In the method of producing polyarylene sulfide, a sulfurizing agent and a dihalogenated aromatic compound are allowed to react with each other in the presence of a polymerization additive in the temperature range of 200 to <280°C in an organic polar solvent, wherein in a process 1, a polymerization time (T1) in the temperature range of 200 to <245°C is 1.5 to <4 h, and the polymerization time (T1a) in the temperature range of 230 to <245°C is 30 min to <3.5 h, and the reaction is performed such that the conversion ratio of the dihalogenated aromatic compound at the time of process completion becomes 70 to 99 mol%, and in a process 2, the reaction is performed such that the polymerization time (T2) including temperature rising and falling time is 5 min to <2 h in the temperature range of 245 to <280°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
