PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming images on both sides of a sheet without generating an image stain or the like. SOLUTION: When forming images on both sides of a sheet, a reversely-rotatable discharge roller 14 conveys a sheet having an image formed on its one side at a sheet conveying speed faster than that of a conveying roller 8 by normal rotation, and then reverses the sheet and conveys it to a reconveying path 21 by reverse rotation. Thereafter, the reversed sheet is conveyed to the conveying roller 8 by a reconveying roller 22 provided in the reconveying path 21. The sheet conveying speed of the discharge roller 14 upon reversely rotating is made slower than that upon normally rotating so that the sheet conveying speed of the reconveying roller 22 is substantially equal to or slower than that of the conveying roller 8.
