PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate the setting of an operation mode in a wireless LAN device available as a wireless slave unit as well as a wireless master unit by switching the setting of the operation mode. SOLUTION: The wireless LAN device 10 includes a packet transmission control unit 102 including a function of transmitting a DHCPDISCOVER packet to a wired device from a LAN switch 130 at the time of startup and a function of allowing an RF device 140 to transmit a probe request packet to other wireless LAN devices via an antenna 150, a first startup control unit 104 for setting the operation mode of the wireless LAN device 10 so that the wireless LAN device 10 operates as an access point at reception of a DHCPOFFER packet, and a second startup control unit 106 for setting the operation mode of the wireless LAN device 10 so that the wireless LAN device 10 operates as a client at reception of a probe response packet.
