PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption necessary for toner-fixation, and obtain good fixing performance and high fixing efficiency. SOLUTION: The optical fixing device is configured to form first and second light irradiation areas of condensed light beams Z2a and Z2b on a recording medium 6 on the basis of light beams emitted from light-emitting parts 2a and 2b. The power density of the condensed light beams Z2a is larger than that of the condensed light beams Z2b, the second light irradiation area with the condensed light beams Z2b is larger than the first light irradiation area in a main-scanning direction, and the first and second light irradiation areas come into tight contact with each other in the main-scanning direction. When the unfixed toner passes through the first light irradiation area, first, the unfixed toner is irradiated with the condensed light beams Z2a having the high power density in a short time, and then, efficiently melted with hardly causing energy loss by diffusion. Thereafter, when the toner passes through the second light irradiation area, the toner is irradiated with the condensed light beams Z2b having the power density lower than that of the condensed light beams Z2a, and the temperature of the melting toner is made equal to or higher than a melting point and held in a non-rising state, and a time required for the melting toner to sufficiently infiltrate into the recording medium 6 is secured.
