<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in which it is difficult to set many OAM (Operation Administration and Maintenance) items by signaling. <P>SOLUTION: In the OAM setting method of a path in a network having a function of setting a path by transmitting and receiving a message related to a path setting request among communication devices 10, 30, 40, the communication devices 10, 30, 40 hold an OAM profile in which a plurality of OAM setting items are put together, in association with an OAM setting ID. The message to which the OAM setting ID to be applied to the path is added is transmitted and received among the communication devices 10, 30, 40 on the route of the path when establishing the path.
