PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability and visibility for focusing in manual focusing. SOLUTION: This image capturing apparatus has a function of focus adjustment of a lens for forming an object image on an image sensor, the image capturing apparatus includes: an extraction means for extracting edge information showing an edge component of the object image captured by the image sensor in the predetermined direction; a generation means for generating an edge component image showing relationship between a position and a level of the edge information extracted by the extraction means in the predetermined direction; and a display means for sequentially displaying the image captured by the image sensor and the edge component image, wherein the generation means generates the edge component image so that the edge information within a preset range and edge information outside the range among the edge information extracted by the extraction means are generated in different display modes so as to be visually distinguished from each other.
