PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably removes a jam in a fixing device that has a heating nip and a fixing nip. SOLUTION: The fixing device includes: a fixing roller 31 for heating a recording medium; a pressure roller 32 disposed in firm contact with the fixing roller 31, thereby forming the first nip and used for pressing a recording medium against the fixing roller 31 in the first nip; a heater 33 disposed in contact with the fixing roller 31, thereby forming the second nip, and used for heating the fixing roller 31; and a release cam 37 for releasing the nips of first and second nips or reducing nip pressures.
