<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve heat transfer characteristics of a heat transfer pipe and to provide a method of manufacturing the heat transfer pipe. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to the heat transfer pipe including a pipe axis, a pipe wall, a pipe outer face and a pipe inner face. Inner fins continuously extending from the pipe wall and extending axially in parallel or circulating spirally are formed on the pipe inner face, and each inner fin includes two fin lateral faces and one fin tip. A continuously extending groove is formed between the adjacent inner fins. The fin tip includes at regular intervals recurring elevations having a substantially truncated pyramidal shape. In the solution, the fin lateral faces of the inner fin are raised in the radial direction along the contour line defined by a transitional edge from one fin lateral face to the fin tip since projections continued from the fin lateral face are formed in this region.
