PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-room type air conditioner in which an indoor expansion valve is optimally arranged, thereby not deteriorating heat exchange efficiency. SOLUTION: In the multi-room type air conditioner, a plurality of indoor units are connected to one outdoor unit, the outdoor unit has a compressor which compresses a refrigerant, a four-way valve which switches refrigerant flow passages, an outdoor heat exchanger which exchanges heat between air and the refrigerant, an outdoor expansion valve which decompresses the refrigerant, and an indoor unit has an indoor heat exchanger which exchanges heat between air and the refrigerant and an indoor expansion valve which decompresses the refrigerant. Refrigerant piping that connects the indoor expansion valve and the indoor heat exchanger is arranged straightly at the back side of the indoor heat exchanger, and the indoor expansion valve is arranged at a side of the indoor heat exchanger.
