Compositions useful in the control of coccidiosis comprise a carrier, poultry feed or feed additive in which is dispersed a compound of general formula <FORM:0962690/A5-A6/1> wherein Y is a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon radical (e.g. alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralky or aralkenyl) having fewer than 9 carbon atoms or an equivalent of a metal, X is an oxygen or sulphur atom, R is a lower (C1-5) alkyl or alkenyl radical and A is an amino or alkylamino (including hydroxy and halogen substituted alkylamino) radicals or a group convertable thereto by acid hydrolysis by heating with GN HCl or under milder conditions. Included among the groups represented by "A" are urea, carbanilide, thiocarbanilide, carbamate, guanidine, sulphonylamino, sulphonamide, sulphinylamino and lower alkylidenylamino groupings. Optionally, there may also be present other known coccidiostats, mixtures of these with the active compounds of the invention being stated to show a synergistic action. Specified examples of such known coccidiostats include 2-methyl-3,5-dinitrobenzamide, nicarbazin, glycarbylamide, 3,5-dinitrobenzamide, methiotriazamine-bi-thionol mixtures, 1 - (2 - loweralkyl - 4 - amino - 5 - pyrimidinyl methyl) - 2 methyl pyridinium quaternary salts and the corresponding-4 methyl compounds. |
