PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dust capturing performance evaluating device and a dust capturing performance evaluating method for evaluating the dust capturing performance with high reproducibility, capable of suppressing dispersion in the evaluation relative to the conventional evaluation by a human, and appropriately applicable to the development and evaluation of a cleaning implement with recently required high performance. SOLUTION: The dust capturing performance evaluation device includes: a floor material including a cleaning surface; a head for attaching a cleaning implement in contact with the cleaning surface of the floor material; a movable mechanism which is connected to the head via a connector and which can be moved along a rail part; driving means for moving the movable mechanism; and control means for controlling the driving means. The control means energizes the driving means to make the movable mechanism reciprocate or move in one way parallel to the floor surface, and to slide the cleaning implement on the cleaning surface of the floor material according to the movement.
