PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to increase display quality by increasing MPRT(Motion Picture Response Time) without respect to a structural restriction. CONSTITUTION: A timing controller(150) supplies a data control signal for supplying a data voltage to data lines and scan signals to gate lines of a liquid crystal panel(120). A data driving circuit unit supplies the data voltage to the data lines based on the data control signal. A gate driving circuit unit supplies scan signals to the gate lines based on the gate control signal and generates scan signal information. A backlight driving unit drives a fixed number of light sources based on the scan signal information.
