<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device that suppresses distortion of a housing, which is caused by transmission of a drive force to a developer carrier. <P>SOLUTION: In a developing cartridge 16, a coupling gear 83 for transmitting a drive force to a developing roller 22 is rotatably provided at the right end of a developing frame 40 in the direction of the rotation shaft (the direction of the width) of the developing roller 22. The developing cartridge 16 includes: a blade 100 for regulating the layer thickness of toner on the circumference of the developing roller 22; and a supporting member 101 supporting a blade 100. When projected from the direction of the width, the supporting member 101 is bent in an L shape, and the coupling gear 83 overlaps the bend 101A of the supporting member 101.
