PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup apparatus capable of forming a corrected image without giving discomfort to a user. SOLUTION: An image pickup apparatus includes: an image pickup means for photoelectrically converting an optical image of a subject through an imaging lens to output it as image data; an acquisition means (S402) for acquiring a status of the imaging lens in imaging; a calculation means (S403) for calculating a correction value for correcting image quality degradation due to characteristics of the imaging lens based on characteristic information of the imaging lens and the status of the imaging lens acquired by the acquisition means; a setting means (S404) for setting an application rate of the correction value based on a first correction valueαcalculated by the calculation means and a second correction valueβcalculated by the calculation means in a previous frame; a re-calculation means (S408) for re-calculating a third correction valueγusing the first correction valueα, the second correction valueβand the application rate; and a correction means (S409) for correcting image data based on the third correction value.
