PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for filling a battery container with an electrolyte, capable of efficiently filling a battery container with an electrolyte. SOLUTION: An electrolyte is supplied to a battery container 2 housing an electrode plate 3, and the battery container is evacuated to impregnate the electrode plate with the electrolyte. Once the battery container 2 is held airtight by sealing an opening of the battery container 2 with a cap 4, a filling means 13 is inserted into the cap 4 (Fig.4(a)), any gas in the battery container 2 is discharged via the filling means 13 to create a state of vacuum (Fig.4(b)), and the electrolyte is supplied to the battery container 2 by the filling means 13 while the state of vacuum is maintained (Fig.4(c)).
