<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device which safely and continuously assists a driver to steer at a failure of a power converter or a winding. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of inverters 13 and 14 convert current supplied by a battery 18 into currents Ia and Ib based on a current instruction value set by an electric motor drive control unit 6, and supplies the currents Ia and Ib to three phase windings 11 and 12 corresponding to the currents Ia and Ib, respectively. A failure detector 15 detects a failure of the inverters 13 or 14, or the three phase windings 11 or 12. When the failure detector 15 detect a failure of either one of the inverter 13, or either one of the three phase winding 11, the electric motor drive control unit 6 reduces the current instruction value to less than that in the normal time. Thus, since the current Ib supplied to the corresponding three phase winding 12 from the other normal inverter 14 is lowered, the driving power of an electric motor to assist a driver to steer is lowered.
