<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent false recognition when a user touches a touch surface by mistake. <P>SOLUTION: The touch panel device is configured to extract an object area where a touch operation is determined based on a level signal at each electrode intersection, to determine the attribute of an object that has touched the extracted object area, and to determine, on the basis of an appearance state of the object area with finger attributes existing around the object area with non-finger attribute, validity of the object area with the finger attributes.
