PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide navigation system providing sightseeing area information at a timing appropriate for a user. SOLUTION: The navigation system 10 mounted on a mobile body (e.g., a vehicle) is equipped with: a POI information storage F3 storing POI information indicating a guidance object; and a sightseeing area information storage F4 storing sightseeing area information in which POI information specifying information (e.g., POI-ID) specifying POI information and event information are associated with each other. Search for the sightseeing area information is performed on the basis of a prescribed search condition (for example, one with a recommendation level of a prescribed value or more set therein). It is determined whether the navigation system 10 is in an operable state by satisfying a specific condition (for example, the vehicle is in a stop state). The searched sightseeing area information is displayed on a display screen of a display device (e.g. image display device) in response to the determination that the navigation system 10 is in an operable state.
