PURPOSE: A display device and a method for controlling thereof are provided to prevent screen noise due to a spread spectrum by selectively turning on/off the spread spectrum. CONSTITUTION: In a display device and a method for controlling thereof, a power is supplied to a display device according to sensing power-on(S101). A spread spectrum function is stopped(S102). An elapsed time is checked after detecting power-on(S103). If elapsed time is higher than a certain time, the spread spectrum function is stopped(S104-S105), and if not, the spread spectrum function is performed.
