<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection method and an apparatus for the same capable of highly sensitizing the detection of oxidation-reduction materials without having to use any catalyst reagents. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for electrochemically detecting oxidation-reduction materials, radicals are generated from solvent molecules originally present in a solution by irradiating the solution, in which a material to be detected is dissolved, with light instead of a conventional catalyst reagent such as an oxidizing agent or a reducing agent.
