<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter substrate having a red pixel with small retardation while keeping an optimum color as red color and high brightness, and to provide a liquid crystal display device having high contrast and excellent oblique visibility upon black display. <P>SOLUTION: In the color filter substrate including a transparent substrate, and a plurality of color pixels including organic coloring pigments and arranged on the transparent substrate, the organic pigment constituting red pixels contains a plurality of kinds of C.I. Pigment Red 254 red pigments having different refractive indices and satisfies two conditions (a) and (b) described below, and the absolute value of the retardation in thickness direction (Rth) of the red pixel is not more than 2.0 nm. (a) When chromaticity coordinate x=0.640 in a C light source, the red pigment has a color difference ΔEab of ≤3.0. (b) The sum of products of birefringence and weight ratio of the plurality of kinds of C.I.Pigment Red 254 red pigments A, B... satisfies following formula: ä(Δn of pigment A)×(weight ratio of pigment A)}+ä(Δn of pigment B)×(weight ratio of pigment B)}+...≤0.01. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
