<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filmy material having high barrier performance to steam and oxygen. <P>SOLUTION: The filmy material includes cellulose microfibers and a layered inorganic compound, wherein cellulose constituting the cellulose microfibers has a carboxyl group content of 0.1-3 mmol/g and the mass ratio of the layered inorganic compound to the cellulose microfibers (layered inorganic compound/cellulose fiber) is 0.01-100.
