LUBRICANT BASE OIL AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant base oil which can be used suitably for application particularly requiring a low dynamic viscosity and can combines the low dynamic viscosity with a high viscosity index at a higher level, and to provide a method of producing the lubricant base oil. SOLUTION: The lubricant base oil includes a fatty acid polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether having a specific structure of which the narrow ratio NAis 80% or less. A method of producing the fatty acid polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether by adding alkylene oxide directly to fatty acid alkylester in the presence of a catalyst obtained by calcining alumina/magnesia compound oxide is also provided.
