PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for displaying 3D image and a controlling shutter glasses are provided to enable a user to view 3D image as a 2D image. CONSTITUTION: A left side image and a right side image of 3D image are inputted by turns(1210). A backlight is operated only a left side image or a right side image is displayed(1220). The backlight is operated according to an STV(Start Vertical) signal or a CPV(Clock Pulse Vertical) signal. The backlight operating time is changed by the crosstalk amount which is generated in a backlight operating step.
