PURPOSE: A device and method for driving a liquid crystal display device are provided to improve a narrow viewing angle by generating an interference image using image data. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes quad type unit pixels composed of an RGB sub pixel and an ECB sub pixel. A data driver(4) drives data lines of a liquid crystal panel(2). A gate driver(6) drives gate lines of the liquid crystal panel. A timing controller(8) supplies image data and ECB data to the data driver.
