PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery module with high safety capable of discharging promptly to the outside a high temperature gas without making it contact with the other batteries, even if an explosion-proof mechanism of the battery operates and high temperature gas is emitted. SOLUTION: The battery module 20 has a plurality of element batteries 1 of which the power generation element 10 is sealed by a laminate film 11, housed in a case 21. The element battery 1 has an extraction portion 12 to which the laminate film 11 is welded at the periphery of the power generation element 10, the extraction portion 12 has a first welding portion 13 and a second welding portion 14 with smaller adhesion strength than that. The second welding portion 14 extends from the vicinity of the periphery 10a of the power generation element 10 to the end 15 of the extraction portion 12, and the end 15 of the extraction portion 12 is arranged extending to the opening 24 of the case 21.
