BACKLIGHT DEVICE, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY USING THIS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a wide color reproduction range in a liquid crystal display even in the case a pseudo-white LED is used, or in the case there is color absorption by an optical member such as a light guide plate.

SOLUTION: A reflecting sheet reflecting light from an LED as a light source and guiding it in a direction of a liquid crystal panel is imparted with: reflectance characteristics having a peak of reflectance between a wavelength of 400 nm and a wavelength of 500 nm out of visible light wavelengths from 380 nm to 780 nm; and a difference between a reflectance of a wavelength of 500 nm or more and the above reflectance peak value to be 5% or more.
