<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus conveying a sheet while solving problems such as image deterioration occurring due to a conveyance state regardless of the thickness of the sheet and while keeping the looped amount between conveyance sections within a fixed range, when images are formed to various types of sheets. <P>SOLUTION: A solenoid 27 varies contact when a contact section 26a comes into contact with the sheet P that is conveyed on a sheet conveying path 33 according to the type of the sheet P in a loop detection section 34A.
