PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of an earth retaining wall serving also as a footing having functions of both of the earth retaining wall and the footing and to provide a construction method of it. SOLUTION: This structure of the earth retaining wall serving also as the footing is constituted by a grid-like soil improvement body 3 functioning as the footing of a structure 1 and a continuous wall body 4 functioning as an earth retaining wall. An embedment section of a lower part of the continuous wall body is formed to serve also as a grid section of an outer peripheral part of the grid-like soil improvement body. The strength of a ground stirring and mixing body in the embedment section of the lower part of the continuous wall body is larger than the strength of a ground stirring and mixing body in an earth retaining part in an upper part of the continuous wall body. The strength of the ground stirring and mixing body in at least the embedment section of the continuous wall body is substantially equal to the strength of the grid-like soil improvement body. After constructing the grid-like soil improvement body except the grid section of the outer peripheral part precedently, the continuous wall body having the upper part functioning as the earth retaining wall and the lower part serving also as the grid section of the outer peripheral part of the grid-like soil improvement body is constructed.
