PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for isolating carbon nanotube columnar structures from a carbon nanotube composite structure having a plurality of carbon nanotube columnar structures above a base material. SOLUTION: The carbon nanotube composite structure 10 has an intermediate layer 3 between the base material 1 and the carbon nanotube columnar structures 2, wherein adhesion between the base material 1 provided with the intermediate layer 3 and the carbon nanotube columnar structures 2 is <5 N/cm<SP>2</SP>and shear adhesive strength of the tips of the carbon nanotube columnar structures 2 to glass at 25°C is≥10 N/cm<SP>2</SP>. The carbon nanotube columnar structures 2, which the carbon nanotube composite structure 10 has, are peeled and transferred to an adherend without causing cohesion failure by pressure-bonding the tips of the carbon nanotube columnar structures 2 to the adherend and peeling the base material 1 provided with the intermediate layer 3 at a peeling angle of≥45°.
